A few tips to help the appointment go smoothly for young or neurodivergent children:
- Prepare your child for the doctor visit – play doctor with their stuffies, watch a cartoon or kid’s show about going to the doctor, talk about the last time you went to the doctor, etc.. Dr. Flohr’s office is bright and child friendly and some toys will be available.
- Make sure they have eaten or bring snacks, sometimes the appointment can be quite long.
- Try to avoid bringing siblings to the visit if possible.
- Preparing questions ahead of time can help you remember the important things when the child might get bored or upset.
- If your child has an extremely hard time being in a new environment, an initial virtual visit may be an option – talk to the office staff during booking and we will work together to create a positive experience for your family.
